Thomas Mathewson immigrates to Australia from Scotland.

After the passing of his parents he is brought up by the Cribb & Foote families of Ipswich.
Tutored in photography by Rev. Beazley an amateur photographer.

Travelled between Charters Towers & Sydney by horse & dray with his photographic equipment.
